Child Custody: Child Illegally Removed to Montana Recovered and Returned to Oklahoma
A lady and her parents from southwest Oklahoma came to me and explained that they hadn't seen the lady's little girl in a couple of years because after a custody order was entered granting the parents joint custody the father had left the state with her and refused to send her back.
Over the next two months we proceeded to Court to obtain an Emergency Custody Order along with a warrant when he failed to appear for a contempt hearing. With that warrant and custody order I contacted the Child Protective Services agency of the state where the child was with her father. The CPS agents found the child in an unheated house with broken windows with her father who was apparently squatting on the property. He was taken into custody and she was returned to Oklahoma.
